WOODNOTES was founded in Finland in 1987 by textile designer Ritva Puotila and her son Mikko Puotila. Inspired by Finnish nature with its numerous forests, the company still combines the creative power of nature with state-of-the-art technology. The typical Finnish raw materials wood and paper are used. WOODNOTES is one of the first companies to use paper yarn in functional textiles. Based on a sensual, calm, almost Asian feel, WOODNOTES offers an overall aesthetic concept that can be used in different functions and rooms. The range includes rugs, accessories, chairs and armchairs made from spun paper cord. Great importance is attached to ecological aspects in their production. WOODNOTES has received the Interior Innovation Award, Iconic Award and the reddot Award several times for this innovative combination of paper as a material and design object. The MoMA in New York also recognized WOODNOTES and included the rugs in its design and architecture collection.
