Since it was founded in 2010, the Bochum-based label miinu has been known for its unique concept of creatively repurposing old carpets and developing new, high-quality ones. The founders Mario Severin and Patrik Salewski have witnessed the structural change of the region from a steel and coal mining location to a service and cultural area in their home town of Bochum. The reference to industrial aesthetics can be seen in the unique designer carpets. They combine tradition with contemporary urban living culture. The vintage look in particular, in which old hand-knotted oriental rugs are coated with yoghurt and lemon juice for up to six months, exposed to the sun to bleach and then re-dyed in modern colors, is what sets miinu apart. Added to this is the expertise of traditional carpet manufacturers in Nepal, India, Portugal and Turkey. This combination of craftsmanship and inspiring influences from all over the world make miinu rugs special highlights. They are available in various colors and sizes and can also be made to measure on request.
