Founded in 1949 by Martin Bulthaup as a furniture factory in the Herford area, the bulthaup brand has stood for the highest quality, honest materials and pure passion from the very beginning. In the 1970s, the founder's son Gerd Bulthaup took over the reins of the company and, together with designer Otl Aicher, developed a Bauhaus-inspired design philosophy for the development of new bulthaup kitchens. The love of architecture and the guiding principle of "form follows function" fundamentally changed the design of bulthaup kitchens over the next few years. In the 2000s, the company finally presented itself with three new systems: "b1", "b2" and "b3" - reduced to the essentials in terms of name and design. The "b Solitaire" series, which appeared in 2017, rounds off the portfolio of the company, which is now in its third generation - run by Marc O. Eckert, the grandson of the founder. 2019 marks the kitchen manufacturer's 70th anniversary.
