OUR HOUSE

THE LIVING
BERLIN
HISTORY

A furniture store
with history

LIVING BERLIN is probably the largest house for the entire variety of upscale furnishings in the whole of Germany, because experts in all areas of living and for the home - from floor to ceiling, from lighting to sound, from built-in furniture to accessories and decoration - can be found on several floors with their showrooms and stores.

LIVING BERLIN is also a building with a great tradition, as it founded and has shaped the so-called "Design District" in Berlin for around 25 years.

From the administration building
to the heart of the Design District

The home of LIVING BERLIN was completed in 1999: The five-storey furniture store at Kantstrasse 17 succeeded the previous administration building of Dresdener Bank, which had dominated Kantstrasse for many decades.

The iconic building with its distinctive window façade was designed by architects Nowotny Mähner & Assoziierte (Berlin) and Studio & Partners (Milan) - and since 1999, interior design of the highest quality and in many styles has been presented here.

The completely redesigned main entrance to the building opened in 2024, marking the end of several years of fundamental modernization of the entire building.

Since opening, around 40 tenants with monobrand showrooms or polibrand stores of national and international interior design brands have continuously made Kantstrasse 17 the top address for interior design in Berlin and beyond. And the heart of the "Design District" ...

The high quality of the collections and consulting services for all aspects of interior design planning, whether for private individuals or property development projects, continued to enhance the area along Kantstrasse around Savignyplatz: More and more interior design houses, kitchen studios, interior design offices etc. settled around this focal point for design connoisseurs.

THE NAME LIVING BERLIN
IS ALSO A STATEMENT ON TRADITION

In this way, our hotel founded Berlin's Design District, which now extends - starting from LIVING BERLIN - in a star shape to Savignyplatz and the Memorial Church and, above all, into the many side streets of the district.

Since May 2021, the building has borne the name LIVING BERLIN - a statement of its roots in Berlin and in the lives of all Berliners, whether they were born here or have moved here.

And the name is also a statement about the interior design tradition of our company with all its stores, which continue to play a leading role in shaping Berlin's vibrant interior design scene today.
