The Swiss company Vitra was founded in 1950 by Willi Fehlbaum and is now known worldwide for the manufacture and sale of home and office furniture. The aim is to use the effect of good design to sustainably improve the quality of living and working spaces as well as public spaces. Concepts and products are developed in an intensive design process with the knowledge of engineers and the creativity of renowned designers. Highlights include the products of the designer couple Charles and Ray Eames and the Panton Chair by the Danish designer of the same name. When selecting designers, architects and graphic artists, a certain signature and world view, which is reflected in the products, plays an important role. It is therefore not surprising that the designs by George Nelson, Jean Prouvé, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and Konstantin Grcic have become design classics.
